Your saved projects and files.

Projects, comparisons, planning scenarios and watchlists are saved in your browser. Documents you choose to attach to the ownership binder are stored in this browser too. These features do not create a cloud account or upload your project, bill files or attached documents to SolarCompare.

Other people using the same browser profile may be able to open your saved work. Use the available delete controls or clear this site's browser data to remove local records. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable, so keep a private backup of important work.

Downloads and exports are under your control. Review a project brief and its personal-detail options before sharing it. A downloaded copy remains wherever you saved or sent it, even if you later delete the browser copy.

Optional solar-resource requests.

The solar-production tool asks for your permission before sending approximate coordinates, panel tilt, orientation and mounting choice to our server and the European Commission's PVGIS service. The server caches this resource geometry and the resulting reference data to reduce repeated requests. The request excludes your project name, notes, equipment list and battery inputs.

Loading the prepared example or opening a saved project does not request new PVGIS data. The tool explains the information being sent before you request a calculation. PVGIS service documentation.

Videos and external websites.

Review videos load an external YouTube player when you choose to play them. YouTube and Google can then process information under their own privacy and cookie policies. Opening a source, documentation or retailer link also connects you to that separate website. Google's privacy policy.

Retailer and affiliate links.

SolarCompare publishes comparisons and links to retailers; it does not process equipment orders or receive your payment-card details. Retailers handle purchases, shipping, returns and customer accounts.

Where a link uses approved affiliate tracking, the retailer and its affiliate network may record a referral and a qualifying purchase to attribute a commission. This may involve their cookies or other tracking technologies after you follow the link. Their privacy policies and cookie controls apply. See our affiliate disclosure. A program application is not the same as an approved, active affiliate relationship.

Site operation and storage.

We use browser storage to provide the saved-work features described above. SolarCompare does not currently load third-party advertising or audience-analytics scripts. Optional external players and websites have separate practices.

Our hosting services process ordinary request information, such as an IP address, requested page, browser information and request time, to deliver the site and support its operation and security. This technical information is separate from projects kept in your browser.

Messages and privacy requests.

If you email us, the email provider processes your address, message and any attachments you send. We use that information to respond and maintain correspondence needed to operate the site. Do not send passwords, tax documents or sensitive project files when they are not needed for your question.

We will review requests concerning records we hold; we cannot remotely erase files or projects saved only in your browser or copies you have shared with someone else.
